-Industry recognition of success in ongoing transformation and continued market leadership-
Manama – xx June 2019: Euromoney awarded the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) the award for “Best Bank in Bahrain” at the Euromoney Middle East Awards for Excellence 2019. Now in its 27th year, the Awards were presented to winning banks from across the region at a gala dinner at the Grosvenor House in Dubai in the presence of senior industry executives from throughout the GCC and MENA region.
Eleven awards were presented to leading banks in a number of categories across key geographies with this year’s awards demonstrating the growing importance of leading local and regional banks versus international players operating in the markets. Of the awards presented, seven went to regional banks with only four going to global banks this year - the highest proportion for regional banks in the Awards’ history.
According to the criteria, NBB was honoured as the “Best Bank in Bahrain” for its transformation, strong performance and results delivered over the past year and its continued market leadership. The Bank was also recognised for its ongoing efforts and investments in innovation. Accepting the Award on behalf of the Bank was NBB CEO Mr. Jean-Christophe Durand, who headed the NBB delegation in Dubai.
Commenting on the win, Mr. Durand said, “We’re extremely honoured with this recognition for NBB and for our teams across the Bank that have worked tirelessly to execute and bring to life our strategy of transformation introduced two years ago. This award underscores the successes and achievements of this journey to date and our strong intention to ensure that NBB continues to innovate, change and better meet the fast developing requirements of the market – particularly on the digital front. It’s taken a great deal of hard work to embark down this path and we look forward to delivering even greater change and value for all of stakeholders. I’d like to thank our teams, board members and customers for supporting us on this journey.”
